ABOUT

HEY GALS.........GRAB A DRINK; IT GOES ON FOR A WHILE! -
AND IT'S WRITTEN IN THE THIRD PERSON, WHO DOES THAT FOR A BLOG???

After spending her teenage years reading Zest magazine, Birmingham-based blog editor Colleen Campbell, decided to embark on a degree that stimulated her interest in food, nutrition and healthy eating. She graduated from King's College London with a First Class Honours Degree in Nutrition. Knowing at some point in her career she wanted to become a manager or own her own business, Colleen decided she wanted to learn more about the business world and applied to study for a Masters Degree in Business Management. She graduated with a Distinction from Aston Business School after completing her dissertation, which looked at the role of advertising in promoting healthy diets.

Colleen, who now runs her own nutrition consultancy, NutriShionis a member of the Association for Nutrition; since graduating she has developed a career as a Registered Nutritionist (RNutr). She is passionate about helping people to look good and feel great through good nutrition and a sensible dietary regime.

Like most girls, Colleen is also a fashion enthusiast. She loves shopping, reading online and print fashion magazines (some of which she has contributed her nutrition advice to), skimming fashion blogs, street-style spotting/people-watching and checking out the fash-pack's outfits. Her passion for fashion led Colleen to develop her own Personal Image Styling Consultancy business as a complement to her Nutrition Consultancy services so that her clients could, 'Look first-rate and feel great!'. She took on the role of blogger ambassador for Birmingham International Fashion Week, which takes place in September.

THE BLOG

A few years ago, Colleen decided she wanted to enter the blogosphere and jump on the blogging bandwagon; the blog is not a cash cow, it's just a little personal web-space to indulge her interests. Using her professional knowledge of health and nutrition and her love of fashion and style, Colleen amalgamates the topics of fashion, health, food and nutrition to bring you a lifestyle blog filled with stylish 'Outfit Of The Day' posts, delicious, healthy recipes and meal ideas, expert wellness tips, reviews, foodie jaunts and travel journals - to help you lead a fashionably healthy lifestyle. In June 2015, she set herself a blog project: to explore Birmingham's health & wellness scene and analyse how it evolves - #BhamWellness - she hosted her first Birmingham Wellness Event in September 2015.

THE BLOG NAME

The name Colleen means ‘girl’ and started as the Irish Gaelic word ‘cailín’. It was only later that the word became anglicized as Colleen. Colleen originally decided on the name forcolleens for her blog, but after discovering ‘colleens’ was trademarked, she decided to go back to her name's Irish Gaelic roots. Taking the plural form of cailín - cailíní - the blog (which was originally written ‘forgirls’) forcailíní was born.
